West Wilson is still reflecting on one of the most talked-about moments from the “Summer House” season 10 reunion.
While viewers watched cast members grill West over his relationship with Amanda Batula, one comment in particular appears to have stuck with him long after filming wrapped.
Appearing on the “Show Me Something” podcast, West reflected on the backlash to the reunion, including criticism he received for not immediately following Amanda backstage after she left the set.
According to West, leaving alongside Amanda would have created an even worse situation.
“I think that would have looked mad f*cking soft, if we’re being honest,” he said. “So, I wish Amanda didn’t necessarily get up, but she had to take a break, that’s fine.”
West explained that he believed Amanda was okay and felt it would have looked strange if both of them disappeared from the stage during the height of the cast’s frustration.
“She’s a big girl,” he said. “I got yelled at enough times that I got up. But it would have been weirder if she got up and then Kyle [Cooke] left. Like Kyle almost went. It’s just so f*cking weird.”
He added that he didn’t want the rest of the cast left on stage discussing the situation without either of them present.
“I didn’t want them all on stage without two of us. I felt like that’s a worse look than her going. Like, I knew she was fine.”
Dara Levitan’s Reunion Comments Hit West Wilson Hard
The moment that appears to have affected West the most, however, came from Dara Levitan.
During the reunion, Dara confronted West about what she viewed as a pattern in his relationships.
“I’m gonna be honest, West, I don’t see you suddenly waking up one day, and this is gonna be the relationship that you stand up for and man up for,” she told him.
“You like people to think of you as a good guy, but you treat the women that give themselves to you like they’re expendable.”
When Amanda later returned to the stage, Dara doubled down.
“The biggest pattern in his life is that it is the West show and it will always be the West show,” she said. “The biggest concern of his, consistently, is being well-liked and well-received. He doesn’t prioritize treating the women he is linked to romantically with the respect that he does anybody else in his life.”
Looking back, West admitted the criticism landed differently because it came from someone who knew him on multiple levels.
“It hurts to have a friend really f*cking cook you like that,” he said on the podcast.
West acknowledged that Dara’s perspective was fair and admitted he has spent a lot of time reflecting on what she said.
“She’s valid for calling me out in that capacity because… I’ve dated casually and hurt people,” he explained. “That one did stick out to me honestly a lot because I was like, oh, this is someone who I’ve been romantic with and been friends with.”
He continued, “To have them kind of just give me the full scope of what that reads like to someone, I guess, who’s been a part of it in all facets. Like, yeah, that’s a lot to take in, especially on that stage.”
And according to West, it’s something he still thinks about regularly.
“I’ve thought about it probably every f*cking day since then,” he admitted.
