How Kyle Richards Made Money Before Bravo
Long before joining “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Richards was already a successful child actress.
She began acting at age 5 and later appeared in 19 episodes of “Little House on the Prairie.” Richards also starred in the 1978 horror film “Halloween” alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, helping launch one of horror’s most successful franchises.
Throughout the years, Richards appeared on shows including “ER,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Days of Our Lives,” “CHiPs,” “7th Heaven,” and “Love Boat: The Next Wave.”
She later returned to the “Halloween” franchise in “Halloween Kills.”
Richards also served as co-executive producer of the 2018 series “American Woman,” which was loosely based on her childhood growing up in Hollywood.
RHOBH Made Kyle Richards a Bravo Staple
Richards joined “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in 2010 and quickly became one of Bravo’s most recognizable faces.
By 2020, she became the only original cast member still appearing full-time on the series.
Reports indicate Richards earns approximately $270,000 per season on RHOBH, though her overall Bravo earnings extend beyond the flagship show through reunion appearances, specials, and other network projects.
She has also appeared on “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” “Vanderpump Rules,” and “The Simple Life.”
Mauricio Umansky and The Agency Boosted the Family Fortune
A significant portion of Richards’ wealth comes from real estate success connected to Umansky and The Agency.
The luxury brokerage firm launched in 2011 and has reportedly sold billions of dollars in luxury real estate. Umansky currently serves as CEO of the company.
During a March 30 appearance on “The Bossticks” podcast, Richards revealed new details about how she helped encourage Umansky’s transition into real estate after he lost his previous job.
“Well, [when] it started, we had no money, and we didn’t have help or anything,” Richards explained.
“And he had been fired. He was in the clothing business, and he had lost his job. And I could tell he had been crying, and it just crushed me.”
Richards said the couple decided together to pursue real estate licenses.
“So I said, ‘Why don’t we go and hire a babysitter once a week, and we’ll get our real estate license together.’ And that’s what we did,” she said.
“We went to Santa Monica College and got our real estate license together.”
Richards admitted the family struggled financially during those early years.
“I was like, ‘I am not going to live in a two-bedroom apartment for the rest of my life with three kids,’” she recalled.
“It was the best thing that ever happened to him, being fired that day,” she added.
The RHOBH Star’s Real Estate Portfolio Includes Aspen and Encino Homes
Richards and Umansky have built a sizable real estate portfolio over the years.
In 2011, the couple purchased a Bel-Air mansion for $3 million, then sold it for $6.5 million in 2022.
They also own homes in Encino, La Quinta, and Aspen.
The family’s Aspen properties alone generated headlines after one home purchased for $4.2 million was later sold for $7.75 million before the family upgraded to another Aspen property reportedly worth $13.6 million.
Kyle Richards Opens Up About Marriage and Divorce Questions
Richards and Umansky separated in 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
The relationship remains a major topic heading into the RHOBH season 15 reunion.
At the reunion, host Andy Cohen asked Richards whether she would seek ownership rights tied to The Agency if the couple divorces.
“Well, it’s mine,” Richards responded.
Her sister, Kathy Hilton, then joked, “Does he realize that?”
