If you thought the most intense battles on “The Traitors” happened at the roundtable, think again. According to a new digital cover story from People, season 4 stars Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monét X Change revealed the cast had another competitive situation happening off camera — breakfast in the castle.

And it wasn’t just casual buffet chatter. The players reportedly got cutthroat over who arrived first, because one menu item was in dangerously short supply: salmon.

‘The Traitors’ Stars Say Breakfast Got Competitive

Candiace, 39, said the cast quickly learned that timing mattered in the mornings if you wanted the best food.

“I was eating the salmon and the eggs, the chocolate croissants,” she said, as Monét explained that “the salmon was so good but here’s the thing: everybody liked the salmon. It was a struggle to get the salmon.”

Candiace then dropped the detail that makes this feel like a mini “Traitors” mission.

“It was only like two pieces for all 20 of us,” she said. “If you were last at breakfast, you got no salmon.”

Monét, 35, agreed, adding that late arrivals had basically no options left.
“If you were late, you got some orange juice and a coffee and called it a day,” she said.

Glam Was Another Off-Screen Challenge

Breakfast wasn’t the only behind-the-scenes struggle. The cast also noted just how exhausting the early mornings were, especially because the cast still had to be fully camera-ready.

Candiace said she’d often multitask her own breakfast with helping Tara Lipinski look ready for the day.

“I’d be contouring Tara while having an egg in one hand,” she said.
Tara, 43, confirmed the dynamic, saying, “Candiace was like my makeup artist,” while Candiace added that “she, me and her was the glam.”

Candiace also described just how demanding the schedule was.

“You’re getting up super early to do everything,” she said. “It was brutal.”
Monét said she normally needs “about 2.5 hours to do glam,” but was surprised to learn “it takes the Housewives longer.”

“I’m putting 3 lbs. of Sherwin-Williams shellac on my face,” she joked. “I was like, ‘This is crazy.’”

Missions Were No Joke on ‘The Traitors’ Season 4

The cast had to snap back into full glam fast — even after muddy, rainy missions.

“What’s insane is we would go do these challenges in the rain, on a loch and then come back to the castle and [producers] would say, ‘Okay, you have three minutes, put your dress back on,’” Tara said.

Monét added that the missions this season were intense, and that the cast wasn’t given special treatment.

“Missions were hardcore this season,” she said. “I feel like [host] Alan [Cumming] amped it up for us… people think… ‘Oh, they’re going to give them the princess treatment.’ No, we’re doing this (expletive) for real.”
