Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have confirmed they are divorcing after 11 years of marriage — and Bravo fans immediately remembered the very documented prenup negotiations that played out long before the wedding. While the announcement itself wasn’t news to Cocktailers, the couple’s long-established financial agreement is now back in conversation simply because viewers watched the entire process unfold on camera.
Kandi announced the split in a statement to People, calling it “a difficult and emotional time” and emphasizing her focus on “protecting my peace” and co-parenting. Todd has not released a separate statement, but both have maintained a united front publicly. Still, longtime Bravo watchers haven’t forgotten what was already in place.
Inside Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s Prenup Drama
Fans first learned of the prenup during Kandi’s wedding special on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” where she and Todd openly disagreed about the terms. After speaking with his attorney, Todd questioned specific clauses and admitted the paperwork made him uneasy.
“You can’t be mad at me for dealing with my lawyer, and he has concerns,” Todd said at the time. “Is this [expletive] personal or is it just business?”
Kandi responded directly, telling him, “How is it personal to say you get what you get and I get?”
One clause in particular sparked debate among the cast — and viewers — when Todd questioned the requirement to move out of the home within 30 days if the marriage ended.
“How do I get out of the house in 30 days?” he asked during filming.
Tension rose enough that Todd briefly suggested the wedding might not happen, saying, “I don’t want your [expletive] money… I don’t think there’s gonna be no wedding.”
The couple married in April 2014 and remained together for over a decade. They share children Ace, 9, and Blaze, 5, as well as Riley, 23, and Kaela, 29, from previous relationships.
Their financial realities were always part of the storyline — Kandi’s estimated net worth sits around $30 million thanks to her music catalog, television career, and businesses, while Todd’s is reportedly around $400,000.

Unfortunately, because Kandi is so nice and never wanted to emasculate Todd, she often had his name attached to her post-marital projects even if he did little to nothing. So, he will be able to prove and take 50% of those assets made during the marriage – which are a lot.
He did all that arguing with her about clauses an terms talking about how there won’t be no wedding when in reality those clauses an terms were probably the best decision she ever made good for her get your money and run far far away
I’m a resident of Georgia and it’s not a 50/50 state. Assets are not distributed evenly like California. The fact that they went into their marriage w a solid prenup should protect her. I could see him filing for child support if they do 50/50 custody based on her net worth versus his. I always felt like she included him in things to not let him feel emasculated. I hope he takes the high road for the sake of their children. I’ll always ride for Kandi
I just can’t get over the fact that Mama Joyce was right this whole time. Mama’s always know. I can’t wait to see what Kandi does next now that she doesn’t have this man dragging her down.
