Wendy Osefo is breaking her silence following her and husband Eddie Osefo’s arrest — and Bravo is quietly reshuffling its schedule. Days after the “Real Housewives of Potomac” star was indicted on multiple fraud charges, Bravo postponed the series premiere of “Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition,” which was originally set to feature the couple.
Bravo Pulls Wendy’s ‘Wife Swap’ Debut Amid Legal Chaos
The series was supposed to premiere on October 14, with Wendy and Eddie in the first episode. Now, it’s been pushed to October 21. The new spinoff features Housewives trading places with everyday families — but Wendy’s legal drama is stealing the spotlight.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues,” a representative told Variety on October 10. “The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
In documents obtained by Bravo and Cocktails, Wendy and Eddie claimed their home was burglarized in April 2024 while they were in Jamaica, alleging that $450,000 worth of designer bags and jewelry were stolen. They submitted three separate insurance claims, but investigators quickly found inconsistencies.
Investigators discovered that several “stolen” items had actually been purchased and returned for refunds prior to the alleged burglary. They also found a photo Wendy posted on April 27 wearing a ring she’d claimed was stolen.
Wendy was indicted on 16 charges, including seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy insurance fraud, and one count of making a false statement to police. Eddie faces 18 total counts. Sheriff James T. DeWees told reporters that Wendy’s reality TV status didn’t affect the investigation, joking, “I don’t care if she’s real housewife, fake housewife, or whatever she is.”
The couple is scheduled to appear in court on November 7. Most felony charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years.
