Get those “Next Gen NYC” cameras rolling, because Ava Dash’s famous father, Damon Dash, is back in the headlines — and not for anything glamorous.
Damon Dash Claims $0 Income and Millions in Debt
According to court documents obtained by People, Damon Dash filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Florida on Thursday, Sept. 4. The 54-year-old music mogul, who co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z and Kareem Burke in 1994, reported that he owes more than $25.3 million — while claiming to have just $4,350 in assets.
Dash told the court he has $0 in monthly income and doesn’t own a house, car, or even electronics, aside from his $500 cell phone. His listed assets include that phone, two guns, clothing, and $100 in cash.
The debts, however, are staggering. Dash reportedly owes more than $647,000 in domestic support obligations, as well as $19.1 million to the government in taxes and related debts. He also owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to his ex-wife, Rachel Roy, with whom he shares daughters Ava, 25, and Tallulah, 17. Additional debts include money owed to Cindy Morales, the mother of his son Lucky, 21, and Linda Williams, the mother of his son Boogie, 33.
Ava Dash’s Apartment Drama Caught on ‘Next Gen NYC’ Cameras
The bankruptcy news isn’t the only Dash family money drama making waves. Ava, who stars in Bravo’s breakout hit “Next Gen NYC”, was recently tied to her own landlord dispute.
Court papers from earlier this year claimed Ava and three other tenants failed to pay rent on a $9,995-a-month apartment for four months, plus an additional $3,872.90 for a fifth month, totaling more than $43,000. By October 2024, the landlord secured an eviction notice stating, “If you do not vacate the location listed above within 14 days after the date of this notice, you may be evicted without further notice.”
And yes, Bravo fans already clocked it. During the premiere episode of “Next Gen NYC”, an eviction notice was shown taped to a door — a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it tease of Ava’s real-life financial drama. While the names were blurred, all signs point to Ava’s apartment being at the center of the storyline.
“Next Gen NYC” season 1 is available to stream on Peacock.
