He might project crypto confidence and party-boy swagger on Next Gen NYC, but Charlie Zakkour was struggling financially just two years ago. According to court documents, the Bravo star filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2023—revealing a dramatically different reality than the one fans see on screen.

Charlie Claimed He Was Unemployed with No Assets in 2023 Filing

In his 2023 bankruptcy filing, Charlie, now 30, disclosed that he was unemployed and living off money from friends and family. The U.S. Sun reports that he had just $1,500 in a checking account and no property or significant assets in his name. Although he listed a Manhattan address, it reportedly belongs to his parents—investment banker Anwar Zakkour and art collector Elizabeth Williams—rather than to him.

Charlie filed for Chapter 7, a form of bankruptcy where assets are liquidated to repay creditors. In his court paperwork, he indicated he was “not employed,” though he mentioned plans to get a job soon.

As for personal belongings, he listed only $1,000 in clothing and $2,000 worth of electronics. He claimed no investments, stocks, life insurance, or retirement accounts. His monthly income at the time was $1,000, primarily from friends and family, and he reported matching monthly expenses—including $300 spent on “entertainment, clubs and recreation.”

His liabilities included over $38,000 in credit card debt, with $33,216 owed to Chase and $4,809 to American Express. After completing credit counseling and a financial management course, his debts were discharged in July 2023.

Next Gen NYC Castmates Question His Finances On-Screen

Charlie’s financial standing has already sparked questions among his co-stars on Next Gen NYC. In Episode 2, his roommate, OnlyFans creator Dylan Geick, commented bluntly, “I don’t think he does. I don’t think he makes money,” when asked by a producer how Charlie earns a living.

In the same episode, Charlie’s father questioned his crypto “trading” strategy.

“Bitcoin dropped like 25% in a day… I just buy more every day,” Charlie explained. His dad shot back, “Buying and holding isn’t a trading strategy, it’s an investment strategy.”

Later, castmates Brooks Marks and Riley Burruss criticized Charlie for talking down to them despite their more grounded upbringings. Brooks is the son of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks, while Riley is the daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta icon Kandi Burruss.

Charlie Isn’t the Only Cast Member Facing Financial Drama

Charlie’s bankruptcy isn’t the only money problem in the Next Gen NYC circle. Ava Dash, daughter of designer Rachel Roy and music mogul Damon Dash, was reportedly evicted from her luxury Tribeca apartment in 2024.

Legal filings show Ava and three others allegedly failed to pay over $40,000 in rent. By October, the landlord had obtained a formal eviction notice. A brief shot of an eviction notice in Episode 1 suggests Ava’s situation could become a larger storyline as the season progresses.

Next Gen NYC airs Tuesday nights on Bravo.
