Taylor Swift’s fanbase has never been shy about protecting their queen — and this time, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is getting the full benefit of Swiftie loyalty. After Los Angeles Chargers defender Teair Tart smacked Kelce across the helmet during the Chiefs’ season opener in Brazil, all hell broke loose online.

Taylor Swift Fans Come For Teair Tart

The hit—which happened after Kelce blocked Tart on a play that led to a Patrick Mahomes touchdown—looked bad enough on its own. But what really made headlines was how quickly it went viral.

Tart, who stands at 6’2and 315 pounds, seemed to take offense at Kelce’s aggressive block. After letting go, he stared Kelce down and slapped him in the face mask. Fans watching at home didn’t hold back, with Swifties storming Tart’s Instagram account and unloading in the comments section.

“You should’ve got ejected and suspended. You’re a piece of s**t!one furious fan wrote. Another accused him ofhorrible sportsmanship, while others claimed hislegacy is now that pathetic guy with zero control.”

Another fan praised Travis’ reaction to the hit,Can we get a little praise for hotheaded Trav holding it together?”

Tart Doubles Down On The Shade

Instead of apologizing or ignoring the backlash, Tart fanned the flames. He reposted aChappelle’s Showskit where Dave Chappelle, as Rick James, famously slaps Charlie Murphy and yells,What did the five fingers say to the face?He added laughing emojis for good measure — clearly mocking the whole situation.

The NFL’s decision not to eject Tart has already been one of the league’s most controversial calls of the season. Some argue that because it was anopen-handslap, he shouldn’t have been tossed.

Others say a punch is a punch, open or closed fist, and Tart should’ve been out of the game.

Either way, Tart might’ve just learned the hard way that messing with Travis Kelce doesn’t only mean dealing with the Chiefs — it means facing the wrath of millions of Taylor Swift fans, too.
