“Real Housewives of Potomacfans couldn’t believe it when news broke that Karen Huger—the Grande Dame herself—had been arrested after a car accident in Potomac. Her car reportedly crashed into several trees and street signs, and while thankfully no one else was hurt, the bodycam footage painted a messy picture. Slurred words, plenty of swearing at officers—it was far from the polished image Karen usually puts out there.

In December 2024, Huger was convicted of DUI and several related charges. According to The Jasmine Brand, the RHOP star was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, and ordered to pay nearly $3,000 in fines. She will also face five years of probation. Prior to this instance, Karen had faced three other alcohol-related traffic offenses.

Karen Huger’s Prison Release Date Revealed

The good news for Bravo fans? Huger is set to be released on September 2, 2025. But she won’t be hitting the road herself—Karen is barred from driving for one year after her release.

She previously requested to serve her time in a work-release program at a rehab facility, but a judge shut that down. Instead, Huger has reportedly adjusted to prison life better than expected. Gizelle Bryant, her RHOP co-star and frenemy, shared,I have been in contact with someone who’s very close to her about her safety and all that. And from what I understand, they love her up [in] where she is right now.Gizelle even joked that Karenis running that thing.”
