After three standout seasons on “The Real Housewives of Miami,” Dr. Nicole Martin shocked fans with her decision to walk away from the Bravo hit. While many assumed her departure had everything to do with motherhood and the birth of her second child, the anesthesiologist and fan-favorite is now revealing the true reason behind her exit. Turns out, it wasn’t just a case of postpartum burnout.

A Plot Twist No ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ Fan Saw Coming

In a candid new episode of her podcast “Scrubs to Stilettos”, Martin opened up about the behind-the-scenes drama that ultimately made her feel unsafe filming with the group. She explained that her departure from RHOM wasn’t planned. Instead, it was a response to a serious breach of trust.

“One of my cast mates confessed to me that the other cast mate had told her that she had hired a private investigator because she wanted to move from a friend role to a full-time role [on the RHOM],” Martin revealed.

“And she felt like if she had this secret, and she could like, drop this bomb that that would be like the thing she needed to like, level up her friends down.”

The alleged PI was reportedly hired to dig into Martin and her husband Anthony Lopez’s personal life. It was a move that left the couple feeling violated. She clarified that her sense of feeling unsafe wasn’t due to physical violence. But she still felt like they “were really trying to hurt me and my family.”

Between her postpartum anxiety and her “baseline anxiety,” Martin realized the situation was not good for her mental health.

“No, this is going to lead me to have a mental breakdown. I can’t do this,” Martin said.

Fans Suspect This Familiar Face, and We Confirmed It!

Although Martin never named names, fans quickly began speculating on who the mystery “friend” might be. During her time on the show, only three women held a recurring friend-of role. This has led many RHOM viewers to zero in on Marysol Patton.

And a source has confirmed to Bravo and Cocktails that the fans were absolutely correct!

Martin and Patton famously butted heads, especially during season 6. One major blow-up occurred when Martin invited former Housewife Ana Quincoces to a Mother’s Day event. This was interpreted by Patton as a slight against Alexia Nepola, who didn’t mince words at BravoCon 2024 where she declared that “no one missed Nicole” once filming resumed without her.

What’s Next for Dr. Nicole Martin After ‘Real Housewives of Miami?’

Even though Martin has stepped away from the spotlight to focus on her health and family, she hasn’t ruled out a return to reality TV. In fact, she does make a few guest appearances in RHOM season 7, and has even teased the possibility of coming back full-time.

“When I had Genevieve, I had postpartum anxiety, and filming was already anxiety-provoking,” she said. “Now that she’s bigger… would I consider coming back? I would.”

In the meantime, Dr. Martin has been thriving off-camera. She co-hosts “Scrubs to Stilettos” with “Real Housewives of Dallas” alum Dr. Tiffany Moon, runs an award-winning skincare line called Exo Ceuticals, and continues working full-time as an anesthesiologist in Miami. She’s also open to other reality ventures like “The Traitors,” “Dancing with the Stars,” or even a cooking competition.
