Lots of housewives fabricate stories for a story line. If they know they must produce, a lot of them will exaggerate or straight up make up a storyline.
Well this one made up a wild one. She will talk about being abused as a child. She will blame her father.
The truth is that she needed a storyline. She also needed to deflect from husband’s employment issue.
She is estranged from her dad so it was the perfect timing. And her dad did something pretty shitty recently so perfect to kill 2 birds one stone.
The problem? When you have another “family” member on the cast- you can’t really rewrite familial history.
Look for family member to call her out. When push comes to shove (and it will) it’s all because family member tells her (and the world) that this is the first she has ever heard even an inkling of abuse and it’s hard to believe. THAT is where the divide happens. THAT is the tornado that broke up bad weather.

So I have family in Utah. My cousin worked for her dad. She didn’t have anything nice to say. The mom I guess is such a doll. The dad destroyed the business and their lives from what I have learned from my cousin and aunt. So sorry but I believe anything W says about her dad. My family watched it first hand. I gossiped with them a year ago wondering if they watch. I live in MI so obviously I’m far from SLC

I will wait and see how it goes. It’s actually normal for family to don’t believe you when you talk about your childhood trauma, even those that start remembering their abuse won’t side with the survivor because don’t want to accept what happened to them. It’s also normal to block abuse when you are a child and just lock it in your “memory” and don’t look back until you seek treatment, even treatment for other things and that will lead to open that lock.
Doesn’t make sense because Whitney and Heather didn’t grow up together. They are third cousins who found out they were related as adults.

I also don’t think anyone has a right to say someone’s retelling of their childhood is false simply bc you didn’t know at the time. That’s some gaslighting victim shaming shit right there and I really hope Heather doesn’t go there.
Many abuse victims take years to speak up. It personally took me a decade bc I blocked it out to survive. It is true many victims can’t remember. It’s the bodies way to cope. But then the memories come one by one.

It’s not uncommon for CSA survivors to completely repress the memories. I don’t think it’s a guarantee that Whitney is lying even if she never spoke of it before or Heather never saw it. Just saying it’s not as simple as “if we never heard about it before it definitely didn’t happen”.

I was abused as a child & even my very closest friends only know a very small part of what i went through. People dont want to talk about it & to be really honest most people dont want to hear about it.

I tend to believe victims. Fair for Heather to state it is the first time she has heard about it, but not fair to imply that means it didn’t happen.

Childhood abuse isn’t that cut and dry. It’s entirely possible that she was abused and that NO ONE in her life knew.
If she is making it up that is deplorable, but just bc Heather doesn’t believe it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. They weren’t even raised together, were they?
