Liz McGraw’s friendship with Dino Guilmette has become a recurring topic on the first season of “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.” Now, the man at the center of those conversations is making headlines for reasons far beyond reality television.
According to a report from The Sun, Rhode Island State Police have alleged that Dino has ties to the New England branch of La Cosa Nostra while also facing a series of felony charges that could potentially result in a life prison sentence if convicted.
The allegations surfaced as viewers continue to watch Liz defend her longtime friendship with Dino on the Bravo series.
Dino Guilmette Accused of Mob Ties as Legal Troubles Grow
According to affidavits reviewed by The Sun, authorities alleged that Dino oversaw a network involved in “the process of smuggling multi-kilograms of cocaine into the United States by way of Rhode Island from an origin likely in the Caribbean.”
Police also alleged that Dino is “actively involved in the licit and illicit activities of the NELCN [New England La Cosa Nostra].”
Investigators reportedly described him as “one of the most surveillance cognizant individuals” they had ever encountered, making him particularly difficult to monitor.
The latest allegations come after Dino was charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, drug conspiracy, perjury, conspiracy, obtaining property by false pretenses, and providing a false document to an agent.
According to court documents cited by The Sun and GoLocalProvidence, authorities alleged that Dino had been “selling large quantities of cocaine, believed to be in kilogram quantities, in the State of Rhode Island.”
The documents further alleged that Dino and another unidentified individual were believed to be smuggling cocaine into Rhode Island from a Caribbean island.
A hearing in the case is scheduled for June.
Liz McGraw Shut Down Affair Rumors on RHORI
While Dino’s legal troubles are now making headlines, Bravo viewers know him as Liz’s longtime friend on “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.”
Earlier this season, several cast members questioned the nature of their relationship after noticing how much time the two spent together when Liz’s husband, Gerry McGraw, was away on fishing trips.
The speculation reached a boiling point during episode 2 when rumors surfaced that Liz and Dino had been having an affair.
Liz immediately denied the claims and explained that their friendship stretches back two decades.
“We can pretend [it’s true] because it makes a great story, but no,” Liz said on the show.
She continued, “When Gerry wasn’t here, I was always with Dino. I know people say, ‘They had this affair.’ It’s all bullsh*t.”
As “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island” season 1 continues to air, viewers will likely hear Dino’s name again.
