Kathy Hilton’s Family Fortune Started Long Before Bravo
Long before becoming a fan favorite on RHOBH, Kathy was already part of one of America’s most recognizable wealthy families.
Kathy married hotel heir Rick in 1979, connecting her to the Hilton dynasty while also helping grow the family’s massive real estate portfolio over the decades. Rick serves as chairman and co-founder of Hilton & Hyland, one of the top luxury real estate firms in Los Angeles.
The couple’s fortune expanded through real estate investments, luxury properties, and business ventures tied to the Hilton name.
Kathy also comes from a famous Hollywood family. She is the half-sister of Kyle Richards and Kim Richards and the mother of Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton.
The RHOBH Star Earns Money Through Fashion and TV
Although Kathy first stepped away from acting as a teenager, she later returned to television through hosting gigs, reality TV appearances, and fashion projects.
She hosted NBC’s “I Want to Be a Hilton” in 2005 and later appeared on “The World According to Paris” alongside daughter Paris.
Kathy officially became a recurring favorite on RHOBH during season 11, where her one-liners, slippers, and accidental chaos quickly made her a breakout star.
Outside of Bravo, Kathy launched the Kathy Hilton Collection in 2012, a fashion line specializing in party dresses sold at stores including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom.
She has also sold skincare products on QVC and HSN and previously owned a boutique called The Staircase on Sunset Plaza.
Real Estate Continues Growing the Hilton Wealth
Real estate remains one of the biggest drivers of Kathy’s fortune.
In 1999, Kathy and Rick purchased a sprawling Hamptons estate in Water Mill for $3.385 million. The property later became a lucrative summer rental, reportedly bringing in between $300,000 and $400,000 per season.
After purchasing their Bel Air mega-mansion for $9.2 million in 2015 and rebuilding it, they ultimately sold the estate in January 2024 for $25 million.
They also own property at New York City’s Pierre Hotel and continue to maintain luxury homes across the country.
Kathy Hilton’s Latest RHOBH Reunion Drama
Kathy recently found herself at the center of a memorable moment during part 2 of the “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season 15 reunion after she answered a phone call in the middle of Kyle’s emotional conversation about Mauricio Umansky.
Fans immediately questioned who was calling Kathy during filming, and she later revealed to Vulture that it was actually her husband, Rick.
“It was my birthday,” Kathy explained in an Instagram clip shared by the outlet. “And my phone was blowing up, blowing up, blowing up. And it was getting late. And we were supposed to drive down to the desert. And the dogs, the whole thing. So it was my husband.”
Kathy added that she felt she had no choice but to answer because the phone “kept beeping.”
“And it kept beeping and without my glasses, so I just was like, ‘I can’t talk,’” she said.
Even with the brief interruption, Kathy still weighed in on Kyle and Mauricio’s ongoing separation during the reunion. When Andy Cohen asked why the estranged couple had been “slow to file” for divorce, Kathy suggested denial may be playing a role.
“I think maybe, like, it could be a little denial,” Kathy said.
Kyle later explained that neither she nor Mauricio had felt pressure to finalize anything yet.
“Once there’s someone, you know, that comes into either one of our lives, they’re gonna force our hand in that, you know, obviously,” Kyle said. “We haven’t felt that and needed to do that.”
