Whitney Leavitt may be preparing to step away from “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” as her career continues to expand beyond reality television.
The MomTok star recently revealed she is considering leaving the Hulu hit while celebrating major success on Broadway after landing the role of Roxie Hart in the long-running musical “Chicago.”
At the same time, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has been filming its next season, though production reportedly faced a pause amid ongoing drama involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
Whitney Leavitt’s Broadway Run in ‘Chicago’ Breaks Records
Whitney first stepped onto the Broadway stage earlier this year as Roxie Hart in “Chicago,” one of Broadway’s longest-running musicals.
Originally, Whitney’s run was expected to end on Sunday, March 15, about six weeks after her debut. However, demand for tickets proved so strong that producers extended her performances.
Whitney will now return to the stage beginning March 23, with her extended run scheduled through May 3.
According to a press release reported by People, the musical recently recorded the highest weekly ticket sales in its 29-year history. The show brought in $1,457,930.77 in a single week, surpassing its previous record from December 2023.
Overall, Whitney’s first six weeks in the production generated $8,049,526.31 in ticket sales.
Whitney reacted to the news on Instagram with an emotional message to fans.
“Screaming!!!! Crying!!!!! Wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys!” she wrote.
Adding even more buzz to the production, Whitney’s former “Dancing with the Stars” partner Mark Ballas will also join the cast, taking on the role of Billy Flynn.
Whitney Leavitt Says It ‘Feels Like It’s Time’ to Explore New Opportunities
While Whitney confirmed she is still filming the new season of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” she admitted her busy schedule has made her reconsider her long-term future on the show.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Whitney shared that she feels ready to explore new opportunities.
“I wouldn’t be where I am without [SLOMW],” Whitney said. “But it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”
Whitney explained that she and her husband are still figuring out what comes next.
“Well, I’m figuring it out in real time,” she said. “[My husband and I are] figuring it out together. … But it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going.”
Despite the uncertainty, Whitney said she remains grateful for the platform the series provided.
“I wouldn’t be where I am without that platform and this group that we created, this business that we created,” Whitney said. “But maybe it’s time for me to branch out in other areas.”
Whitney added that she believes her co-stars would support her if she decides to pursue other projects.
“And I feel, today, that each one of them would support me in that,” she said.
Still, Whitney made it clear she is not ruling out a future return to reality television.
Even if she steps away from “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” she said she would not “ever close a door” on the genre that helped launch her career.
