Quad Webb is opening up about just how close she came to marrying ex-boyfriend Kirk “King” King during the latest season of “Married to Medicine.”
During season 12, episode 13, the cast traveled to Jamaica, where the women gathered for a candid conversation about their relationships.
While discussing her dynamic with King, Quad revealed that marriage had already been brought up — and even suggested.
Quad Webb Says Kirk “King” King Previously Asked Her to Marry Him
During the beachside discussion, Quad explained that one of the biggest challenges in her relationship with King was his belief that she did not “cater to him” enough.
Dr. Heavenly Kimes quickly asked why Quad was giving what she described as “wife benefits” without having a ring.
“I’m not even pressed to be a wife right now,” Quad said.
However, Quad then surprised the group by revealing that King had already asked her to marry him at one point.
“The man has asked me before to marry him,” Quad shared. “I thought it was BS. I was out here playing. I was thinking about all the superficial s**t that didn’t f**ckin’ even matter.”
In a confessional, Quad explained how the moment unfolded.
“We’re at his condo, and then it’s like, ‘So we can just run up here to the courthouse right now,’” Quad recalled. “I didn’t think that it was real.”
Quad said she wasn’t rejecting him, but she wanted something more meaningful.
“I really just wanted more of a plan for our lives,” Quad explained. “But the energy after, he just kind of shut down on me.”
The ‘Married to Medicine’ Star Says She Wanted a Family With King
Later in the episode, Dr. Mimi Sanders asked Quad what she wanted from the relationship.
Quad made it clear that she envisioned building a family with King.
“I want a family,” Quad said. “I want him to be the head of our family. I want this man, and I want his children. That’s what I want.”
Toya Bush-Harris suggested Quad shift the conversation from children to marriage first.
“Stop talking about a baby and start talking more about marriage,” Toya said.
Quad immediately pushed back.
“No, baby, I’m talking about what I want,” Quad replied.
Kirk “King” King Explains Why Marriage Hadn’t Happened
During a counselor-led discussion among the men, the group asked King why he had not taken the next step with Quad.
“We’re on our own journey, and we’re doing it at our pace,” King explained.
When Cecil Whitmore pressed him about marriage specifically, King said others were putting more pressure on the situation than Quad herself.
“In regards to that, you guys are pressuring me more than she is,” King said.
Later, Curtis Berry suggested the couple’s fertility struggles may have come from being “out of order” by having sex before marriage.
King quickly pushed back on that idea.
“We’re not gonna weaponize the Bible against me right now,” King said. “I think those are medical complications, not necessarily due to order. I mean, it’s 2025. We’re doing it on our timeline.”
Quad Webb and King Discuss Relationship Issues After Jamaica
After returning to Atlanta, Quad and King discussed the tension in their relationship.
King questioned whether marriage was even necessary.
“First of all, everyone’s talking about marriage, but is it really necessary?” King asked. “Sometimes two companies may not need to merge.”
King also said he felt Quad had not shown him enough appreciation.
“Screaming it versus showing it are two different things,” King said.
Quad said she had worked on herself following the couples’ trip.
“I will say, hands-down, I tried,” Quad explained. “I did a whole lot of self-reflecting.”
King disagreed with her assessment.
“You didn’t do anything by yourself,” King replied. “I tried to the point of exhaustion.”
Quad responded simply, “We’re gonna disagree there.”
King concluded the conversation by saying, “Yeah, we can agree to disagree.”
The “Married to Medicine” season 12 finale airs Sunday, March 15 at 9/8c on Bravo.
