Sutton Stracke is used to hearing opinions — flattering or not — about herself and the Beverly Hills crew. Still, even she was caught off guard by the idea that the women of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” are viewed as cold or unwelcoming by fellow Bravo stars. In a recent interview, Sutton addressed the long-standing reputation head-on and made it clear she doesn’t quite agree with the narrative.
Sutton Stracke Responds to RHOBH Elitism Claims
While speaking with Decider, Sutton was asked about comments from Kate Chastain and Heather Gay suggesting the Beverly Hills cast lacks warmth compared to other franchises. Kate previously said the group is “not the warmest,” while Heather noted that despite friendships between the franchises, there’s still an elitism that’s hard to break through.
Sutton said the remarks were news to her. “Well, I hadn’t heard those things,” she admitted. “Heather Gay is great. Kate and I have met a few times. She’s a Florida girl. Personally, I don’t get it, but OK.”
She went on to acknowledge the perception while gently pushing back. “I’m sorry that people feel that way about our show and our cast on other Bravo shows because we’re actually not,” Sutton said. “We’re fun. We’re fun, I promise. We might have to sit at several separate tables sometimes, but we’re a pretty fun group of girls.”
The idea that the RHOBH cast isn’t “nice” or approachable has followed the franchise for years. With its emphasis on wealth, fashion, and polished appearances, Beverly Hills has often been described as more guarded than cities where friendships feel immediate and messy.
From the earliest seasons, the group dynamic leaned toward smaller alliances rather than one big friend circle. Many of the women came into the show with established social circles and long histories, which naturally created distance — especially for newcomers. Sutton’s comment about “separate tables” neatly sums up what fans have watched play out for multiple seasons.
Still, Sutton hinted that viewers may not see the full picture. While the friendships may look fractured on camera, that doesn’t mean the women aren’t enjoying themselves or forming bonds in their own way.
