Dr. Simone Whitmore shocked viewers on the latest episode of “Married to Medicine” when she openly questioned her marriage to husband Cecil Whitmore — but according to Simone, the situation isn’t nearly as dire as it looked on screen. While season 12 delivered one of the couple’s most intense arguments yet, Simone insists their decades-long relationship is still standing strong, even if the parenting drama hit a nerve.
Dr. Simone Whitmore Explains Her Clash With Cecil on ‘Married to Medicine’
During season 12, episode 3 of “Married to Medicine,” Simone and Cecil butted heads over how they parent their two adult sons, Miles, 26, and Michael, 22. The tension centered on Simone feeling unsupported — particularly when it came to finances and accountability.
In an interview with The Daily Dish, Simone acknowledged that her comments likely stung. “I’m sure his feelings were hurt, because he isn’t thinking that I should always take everything so far,” she said. “But we are not on the same team. We’re not on the same page with our children. And I would just like for us to get things back together again, where we at least present a unified front with our boys.”
The disagreement unfolded after the family celebrated both sons earning their college degrees. When Michael revealed he had spent more than $60,000 on a credit card in one year, Simone questioned how he planned to pay for law school. “I don’t feel like I should be footing the bill for anything other than the roof over your head,” she said, adding that she paid for her doctorate through scholarships and loans.
Michael pushed back, pointing out that many wealthy parents fund their children’s education. Cecil agreed, saying, “We are blessed. We are in a situation where we can help.” That was the breaking point for Simone, who vented in a confessional, “I get tired of being the lone man out. It’s always three against one.”
When Cecil attempted to intervene again, Simone snapped, “You don’t f–king jump in. You can’t speak for me ’cause you don’t think like me. … You don’t support me on s–t.” Asked where the emotion came from, she yelled, “It comes from my heart!”
The tension followed Simone to Brandi Milton’s birthday dinner, where she stunned Quad Webb by admitting, “I don’t want to be married anymore.” Quad immediately urged her to walk it back.
Despite the chaos, Simone says her marriage is not in danger. “My marriage is in a good place,” she insisted. “Cecil and I have been married years, and we know how to weather the storm.”
