“Southern Charm” star Molly O’Connell is officially off the market, and naturally, Shep Rose has plenty to say about it. After last season was filled with flirtation, confusion, and one very memorable kiss, Molly confirmed she’s been quietly dating someone new — and it sounds serious. While fans are still unpacking what really happened between Molly and Shep, the cast is already moving forward, instruments and all.
Molly O’Connell Confirms New Relationship as Shep Weighs In
Molly O’Connell revealed her relationship status during a December interview with The Daily Dish, casually confirming that she’s been seeing someone for the past few months. “I have been recently dating someone for the past few months,” she shared. “He’s my boyfriend.”
While Molly didn’t name names, she did offer a few notable details. Her new boyfriend is “from the South,” has lived in Charleston “for a long time,” and — in a very on-brand twist — he’s also a musician. Like Molly, who plays euphonium with the Charleston Concert Band, her boyfriend plays guitar. A band romance in Charleston? What could possibly go wrong.
Shep, who joined the interview, made it clear he’s supportive. Calling the mystery man a “super, super good guy,” Shep added, “He’s a talented guy.”
The comments echoed what viewers saw on the Dec. 10 episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” where Molly again referred to her boyfriend as “very talented.” Shep joked, “They’re in a band together. That always works, right?” Andy Cohen didn’t miss a beat, replying, “I might put more money on it working than the two of you, with all due.”
Why Things Didn’t Work With Shep Rose
Molly and Shep’s brief romantic chapter played out at the end of “Southern Charm” season 10, when the longtime friends shared a kiss during the finale. After filming wrapped, they admitted to having “a few fun nights” together, officially ending Molly’s self-described celibate era.
At the time, Molly was open about her attraction, calling Shep “undeniably a handsome man” and adding, “He’s extremely intelligent; he’s very open-minded.” Still, the spark didn’t last.
In a November interview with Entertainment Tonight, Molly explained why things fizzled before season 11 even began. “I think we are just better as friends,” she said. “We had a fun time — a good time, not a long time.”
Season 11 introduced yet another wrinkle when “Winter House” alum Kory Keefer flirted with Molly during the premiere. She wasn’t impressed. In her confessional, she joked, “Oh wow, shiny, toxic (expletive)boy. Like, my therapy apparently is not working very well if this is who I think is cute.”
