“Dancing With the Stars” fans are in detective mode again, and this time they think Witney Carson may have thrown a little shade at fellow finalist Dylan Efron. The Season 34 champ shared a celebratory Instagram Reel after winning the Mirrorball Trophy with partner Robert Irwin, but a single screenshot from her private texts is causing a full-blown debate in the fandom.

In the clip, Witney praised her husband Carson McAllister for supporting her throughout the competition. She also showed off a text exchange about her performance. But eagle-eyed viewers spotted something interesting just above the message she meant to highlight.

McAllister wrote, “Zac Efron is here,” referring to the actor attending the November 18 semifinals to watch his younger brother. Witney responded, “I saw! They are trying to get votes.” And that one line was enough to launch a Reddit frenzy.

Witney quickly deleted the reel — which only fueled speculation more, of course.

DWTS Fans are Split On Witney Carson’s Motives

Fans immediately jumped in with their takes. Many interpreted Witney’s comment as a swipe at Dylan and his partner Daniella Karagach, suggesting that Zac’s appearance was a strategic move, not just a supportive brother moment.

“If he really wanted to get votes that desperately he could’ve had Zac there every week,” one fan wrote, pointing out that Zac wasn’t even included “as part of Dylan’s dedication week dance.”

Others defended Witney and insisted the comment wasn’t shady at all.

One viewer shared, “Idk why everyone thinks she’s implying it’s a bad thing! Like yes they were probably hoping Zac would get Dylan more votes. And I’m sure Wit was hoping for the same with Bindi and the Irwin fam. There is nothing obviously negative or even judgmental about what she said!”

Another added, “People are making this deeper than it needs to be.”
