Garcelle Beauvais knew when to make her exit.

After five standout seasons on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” the fan favorite decided to walk away following a difficult season 14 and a brutal reunion. And now, she’s making it clear why it was the right call.

Garcelle Beauvais Reflects on RHOBH Exit: ‘It Was Heavy on My Spirit’

In a new interview with Variety, Garcelle explained that leaving the franchise was an act of self-care.

“Self-care is preventative, and listening to your body,” she said. “We can’t do things from an empty cup. We can’t take care of people if we’re not healthy to make sure that we’re around to continue.”

Garcelle admitted that while “Housewives” was a great opportunity, it ultimately took a toll. “As great of an opportunity as it was to be on ‘Housewives,’ it was heavy on my spirit,” she revealed. “Walking away has given me my power back. It’s given me a sense of freedom, and I’m in a good headspace. I want to create, I want to spend time with my family and friends. We live in a crazy world right now, and anywhere you can find joy and hold on to it for a bit is where we should all go.”

She added that there was a specific moment when she knew it was time to leave. “I felt like I no longer belonged here,” she said. “I no longer fit here. It was definitely a moment of like, ‘This is not for me.’ It just didn’t feel right.”

After her departure, Garcelle unfollowed several former castmates, signaling a clean slate. She hasn’t completely ruled out returning someday, but for now, her focus is elsewhere.

She’s currently the new face of Lifetime’s annual Stop Breast Cancer For Life Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, helping to normalize conversations about mammograms. She also has several acting projects lined up—proof that she’s thriving well beyond the Beverly Hills drama.
