“Next Gen NYC” star Georgia McCann is holding nothing back about her health struggles — and this time, it’s not reality TV drama. The 24-year-old opened up about her long battle with an eating disorder, revealing she once dropped to just 88 pounds before seeking treatment.
Georgia McCann’s Wake-Up Call Came Just After the Season 1 Premiere
Georgia, who says she’s been dealing with her disorder since middle school, shared that her breaking point came just after the premiere of “Next Gen NYC.” A friend called her a week later and bluntly told her she looked the “thinnest [she’d] ever been” — and feared for her life.
“It was definitely the most severe it’s ever been,” she told People. “I lost 25 pounds in like, two months. I weighed 88 pounds.”
Fans noticed too. Georgia recalled seeing a 400-comment Reddit thread dissecting her body. “Some people were nice, saying, ‘She needs help, I hope she’s okay.’ But others were so, so cruel. I was mortified.”
The ‘Next Gen NYC’ Star Calls Treatment the ‘Best Thing I Ever Decided to Do’
After a month of inpatient treatment, Georgia says she’s in a much better place. “It’s the best thing I ever decided to do … I’m feeling amazing now,” she shared. “I had to learn to love myself … I know it sounds cheesy, but I’m thankful I’m alive.”
She explained that her disorder wasn’t just about appearance — it was about control. “It started in eighth grade. There were things going on at home, I felt depressed … this was a way to take control when I couldn’t control anything else.”
Now, Georgia is practicing dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), focusing on reframing her relationship with food and her body. “Letting go of control is like true freedom,” she said. “It’s like this vessel that lets me love people, create, and travel … For so long it was just a disposable object to me.”

Season 2 of “Next Gen NYC” is expected in 2026.
