Jay Cutler, former quarterback for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins, is officially heading to jail. The ex-NFL player, 42, struck a plea deal in Tennessee that will see him spend four days behind bars after pleading guilty to one count of misdemeanor DUI, according to TMZ.
In exchange, prosecutors dropped several other charges, including a weapons charge after police allegedly discovered two firearms in his car, one of them loaded. Cutler will also serve one year of supervised probation, pay a $350 fine, and complete a DUI safety course. His driver’s license has been suspended for 12 months.
The deal stems from an October 2024 crash in Franklin, Tennessee, where police said Cutler rear-ended another vehicle, slurred his speech, and refused field sobriety tests. Blood tests were later taken at a local hospital.
Bravo Fans React to Jay Cutler’s Jail Sentence
Outside of the sports world, Cutler is most famous for his marriage (and eventual divorce) from “Very Cavallari” star Kristin Cavallari. Sources close to Cavallari told the Daily Mail that she’s “disappointed” in her ex’s actions and expects to address it on her podcast. “She sees it as a black eye,” the insider explained, noting that Cavallari doesn’t want to constantly answer for her ex-husband’s behavior.
And Bravo and Cocktails insiders weren’t exactly shocked by the news, with multiple sources jokingly labeling Jay as “kind of a dick.” Honestly, considering his history of doing “whatever he wants,” it tracks.
Cutler will begin serving his short jail stint in late September.
