Below is the press release for the sad and tragic death of Lydia’s (former RHOC) brother.
OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING UPDATE
On April 17, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m.. a Newport Beach Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle on West Coast Highway between Superior Avenue and Hoag Hospital. The rider, identified as Geoffrey Shyam Stirling a 45-year-old resident of Laguna Niguel, was stopped for a traffic violation
Shortly after being stopped. Stirling became uncooperative and assaulted the officer.
During the ensuing violent altercation, Stirling managed to remove the department-issued taser from the officer’s duty belt and attempted to deploy it multiple times against the officer. At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
Additional officers responded to the scene and rendered medical aid to Stirling until personnel from the Newport Beach Fire Department arrived. Stirling was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased
In accordance with California law, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) was notified and responded to the scene to conduct an independent investigation. Once their investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section for independent review.

Tragic, poor Lydia just lost her mama a few months ago too. Also, I always wondered where they came up with the name Stirling for one of their kids. That must be her maiden name.
Wow sad, I live in the area there has been zero mentioning
This is so sad.
I’m not saying Lydia doesn’t have a reason to be heartbroken, but her brother was a very bad person. Can’t fit it all in the comment section but he was a convicted pedo for acts with an 11 yo, had several different aliases, and was due in court for I think violating probation which would have put him back in jail. I think he would’ve injured or done worse to the officer if he could have used the taser.
I’m with Jo. While this is sad for Alysia and the family mourning the loss, he was a very troubled individual. Sad story with a sad ending. Poor Lydia, thank god she has such an amazing support system!

Why didn’t he just comply?
