Update on the daiquiri bar post: Statement on insta from Lamar, Leva’s husband and business partner:
**Urgent**
This is the first and last time you’ll hear from me on social media.
I live in the real world and I deal with real people.
I am a NATIVE of Charleston, SC and I love this city.
In the past few days, I have been asked to make a statement, apologize, and address outlandish allegations about my business on social media-allegations that are not only entirely false, but extremely harmful and discriminatory.
Our grand opening was this past weekend & as you can see it was full of happiness, celebration & enjoyment. A wonderful time was had by all walks of life, ethnic backgrounds, and genders, simply here to have a good time.
be accused of racial profiling by a non POC young Tik Toker is very 2025! For those who want to follow this ‘organized propaganda’ that we are a “White’s Only” establishment, please kindly KISS MY A**
I am a person that has experienced racism and acts of discrimination firsthand. This is a real F-K YOU moment. What saddens me the most about seeing these untruthful posts is the irony of it, the deepest and most dangerous form of racism.
What is worse is watching media platforms we know and used to respect, @eater @eatercarolinas, feed into non-factual information for clicks, especially with them knowing how hard it is for restaurants and bars just to stay in business these days. To attempt to take a local business down over Tik Tok gossip is appalling. Especially after going above and beyond for their journalist earlier in the week, accommodating all their requests [after saying how great everything was] and sending them home with dinner for the family @erperkin
To the trolls, have fun, but I’ll block your A** if what you’re saying isn’t true.
And no, this isn’t an apology because we did nothing wrong. We have a dress code and it’s enforced
AFTER 8PM. If you don’t like the way we do business, DON’T COME.
To all of our supporters and other media outlets and bloggers that didn’t jump on the false bandwagon – WE LUV YOU!
To exploit issues that affect our people for your social media gain is bullsh*t. If you want to talk in real life, I’m not hard to find. I’ll be at Zach’s front door with the white Zach’s hat on – come say hi.
-Lamar
So some Charleston tea for you: Leva opened up a new daiquiri bar and posted a dress code, which would be okay, except it’s a daiquiri bar in Charleston!
I was out with some food and bev people tonight and it’s the talk of the town.
All of her other establishments like Republic, where Southern Hospitality is filmed, have dress codes but the other places are upscale, but a dang daiquiri bar is dumb. She’s looking for a certain clientele.

Allegedly from bravoandcocktails.com

Now I need to back and find the post I saw on this today because there was controversy around this on opening night. It led to a lot of bad Google reviews that have since been removed.
The dress code is anti black and targets a specific demographic.
That’s hysterical bc the bartenders are decked out in Kenny flowers shirts – hardly upscale!! Super fun and cute place tho!
You’d think she would want to broaden her customer base since all her other restaurants are upscale. Who wants to dress up to have daiquiris? Lol that’s more a beach or Nola vibe
It’s her business.
Does anyone know what the dress code is?
Good for him for standing up to the trolls!
Are you suggesting black people (the owner, Lamar, is black btw) do not go to places with dress codes or don’t know how to adhere to dress codes?!
Both are false and a stupid assumption.
The dress code – is reasonable! I looked on the website and it’s totally reasonable for a place that wants to feel like a cocktail/snazzy place.
I don’t view the requirements as anti black – it’s Don’t wear jerseys, crocs slides… after 8pm! Lots of white people dress trashy too ; /
I don’t like people pulling the “race card” on a “dress code”. If you want to wear your slides with a jersey – go to a sports bar.
Even the DJ had on Jordan’s 🙄
They have a dress code for a reason. Follow it or go elsewhere.
It’s really that simple.
Saying the dress code is anti black is so racist it’s almost amusing how tone deaf it is? So you’re saying that all black people only wear Jordans and baggy jeans? Lollllllllll do they HEAR themselves?
