New BH housewife Annmarie’s husband :
Former NFL star, ex-ESPN analyst Marcellus Wiley accused of raping fellow Columbia student in 1994.
A former colleague spoke out on Twitter, James Stoteraux said:
This is just the tip of the ice berg. I worked for the Dean of Students office during this time.
Multiple victims came forward. Despite knowing there was a pattern, the Columbia administration convinced each of the victims that they were at fault so they wouldn’t press charges.
But there were some of us who were appalled by the university’s treatment of the victims.
At the time I was a Residence Hall Director working for Dean Linda Ainsworth who was Wiley’s house dean in ’94. She did everything she could to intervene. And Columbia fired her for it!
These women did exactly what Columbia tells students to do in these situations, and then the University systematically punished them for it. I hope these women get justice. They’ve been waiting nearly three decades for it.
Smells fishy. 30 years is a insane amount of time and right before his wife is about to make her debut on Housewives?
Wow
Ugh Cait. You are part of the problem
Yeah, Cait. No. Please learn about why women wait – sometimes decades – to come forward. I’m so glad you’ve obviously never had to deal with this.
Ugh Sara – so are you.
Successful Black men and women are often always scapegoats for scandals. There are factual statistics on this.
Cait, I expected better from a fellow cocktailer 🙁
I hope these women get the justice and peace they deserve. It sounds like this was an ongoing issue and hopefully justice delayed isn’t justice denied
It’s not fishy. Columbia University is in NY. NY has enacted an Adult Sexual Survivor’s Act that allows victims to come forward beyond the typical 20 year statute of limitations. This is why so many men are being held accountable at this point in time and this temporary lift of the statute of limitations may become permanent allowing more victims to come forward. And judgement on why victims wait so long contributes to why victims don’t come forward. Educate yourself before commenting.
I agree with Sara fully. Also, housewives is popular with us, but it’s not like being a housewife is big celebrity, it’s a small fish in a huge pond.
Go NY for having its survivors act and allowing people to file sexual assault claims.
People take years, decades, lifetimes to be willing to recognize their assault and pain.
For the dopes trying to saying something weird….its not. It NY state being awesome and allowing victims/survivor time to attempt to find Justice
Instead of cheering NY…why doesn’t NY and every state step in. These colleges are a hot mess and have been for decades. They are horrid to be honest in every single way. It sucks that we all have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars for rapes, racism , anti semitism etc
I cheer NY bc I’m in tri-state area and support survivors of sexual assault. If we don’t celebrate and recognize good things – they won’t spread.
grumpy pants want to criticize – try celebrating and asking for more good laws.
I don’t understand why this is fishy. These aren’t no name people that suddenly found fame and allegations are coming out (not that I would find that fishy either). He’s former NFL and ESPN and decently known so there’s no “timing” at play. Clearly these victims tried to deal with it at the time and the system failed them as it often does regarding college athletes, and now they are ready again. Trauma recovery has no timeline.
This isn’t fishy – as others have noted this NY law is the same reason the lawsuit against Diddy was filed earlier this month. It’ll be a civil, not criminal, trial. Interested in how bravo handles this hot potato.
