So to answer how the SAG strike will effect our reality television shows…Short answer is no it won’t. Reality programming does not count as they are not paid under SAG scale.
A ton of HWs are SAG too!
A ton in ATL.
BH of course current and past.
Vanderpump prob is SAG too. Scheana Arianna Tom Kristen….
But what if you’re a SAG member shouldn’t you strike in solidarity?
If you’re a SAG member they are supposed to strike period.
@Sag Aftra that’s what I would think. Even if the pay isn’t on SAG scale I can’t imagine the strikers would take kindly to people filming at all. Kind of undermines (and underlines) their whole reason for striking but I guess we’ll see.
Also, the notice put out says that non members working violating the strike, even if they are not currently members, will be refused entry in the future. People should make smart choices.
Since Ariana just taped the Lifetime movie, I would think that she is a member of SAG. Kyle has to be as well, because she was on *er* and the stuff when she was younger.
I’m worried about BravoCon with tickets going on sale Friday. If it’s going to be all no shows I hope bravo would re-schedule or refund. Not good.
Doesn’t this say contradictory things? It says it won’t affect reality tv, but if the reality stars are SAG members shouldn’t they be on strike?
Do people not know the last writer’s strike is how we got reality TV or am I old?
The last strike is definitely how we got reality TV.
Also, they/SAG-AFTRA/Fran Drescher listed specifically “projects that fall under X contracts and agreements” – so not every film related project in the country is considered to be on strike. And on top of that, with labor law, their employer obligation comes first if they are not working under a union contract for that employer. So, whether they would or not who knows, but if the housewives are working for Bravo independently and not under one of the agreements covered as part of the strike, Bravo could technically terminate their contract if they were to refuse to film in solidarity with the strikers.
Didn’t reality TV start to take off because of the writers strike that happened back in the 2000s? They’ll just find new reality stars. Production companies always find a way to make money.
