Steven McBee Jr. is finally opening up about the emotional toll of living through his family’s very public legal disaster. “The McBee Dynasty” star says his father’s federal fraud case didn’t just shake their business and reputation — it aged him and changed his entire outlook on life. And if you think Steven is sugarcoating anything, think again.
Steven McBee Jr. Says His Father’s Fraud Case ‘Took Over Our Lives’ and Left Him Carrying the Weight
During an episode of the podcast “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley,” Steven admitted the last few years have felt like carrying a permanent mark of shame.
“That has truly taken over the last two to three years of our lives,” Steven said. “You feel like you’re wearing the scarlet letter everywhere that you go. It is like a black cloud over your head. It’s been tough.”
Steven’s father, Steve McBee, was sentenced in October to two years in prison, plus two years of supervised release, after being ordered to pay more than $4 million in restitution for his role in a crop insurance fraud scheme. At the time of Steven’s interview, the sentence hadn’t come down yet, and the family was hoping for probation.
“We’re hoping that it is just four years of probation,” Steven told Chrisley. He added that prosecutors were recommending leniency and that the family was “willing to open up our world to the court.”
Steven, who has built his public identity around hard work and the family business, said the most frustrating part has been watching people assume everything they achieved was fraudulent.
“The biggest misconception is that everything we’ve built… was all fraudulent,” he said. “That’s just not true.”
The psychological weight has been brutal.
“I feel like the last two to three years have aged me about 10 to 15 years,” Steven shared. “It’s the anticipation and the unknown that makes it so bad on you.”
Despite everything, he praised his father for staying strong through the chaos.
“My dad is the most stress-tolerant man I’ve ever been around,” Steven said. “I’m a stress ball 24/7.”
As the dust begins to settle, Steven insists they’re standing firm in their values.
“You keep your chin held high, you know who you are as a person,” he said. “But you read articles… it makes you start to question your character.”

Choosing to associate with Savannah Chrisley is a bigger knock on his character than his dad’s financial fraud actions. So, maybe he should be questioning himself…
Sorry but nothing can make me hate this family and maybe even Steve sr, hate to admit it!
