Lindsay Hubbard Says Paula Abdul Almost Became Family

Lindsay Hubbard just shared one of the most unexpected stories from her dating history — and it involves Paula Abdul.

During the June 16 episode of the “More Life with Carl Radke” podcast, the “Summer House” star revealed why the pop icon still refers to her as an “almost niece.”

While catching up with ex-fiancé Carl Radke, Lindsay explained that shortly after moving to Los Angeles, she dated Abdul’s nephew. The relationship became serious enough that she spent significant time with the singer and former “American Idol” judge.

Lindsay Hubbard Says Paula Abdul Still Calls Her an ‘Almost Niece’

According to Lindsay, she and Paula became so close during that period that the singer still brings it up years later.

“[It was] to the point where even to this day, she’s like, ‘Lindsay was almost my niece,’” Lindsay recalled.

“And I was like, ‘No, I wasn’t.’”

Carl quickly confirmed the story, revealing that he had witnessed the interaction firsthand.

“We ran into her, and she said that again,” he said.

Carl explained that the encounter happened a few years ago and caught him completely off guard.

“I’m like, ‘Paula! I thought you were joking,’” he said. “I was like, ‘There’s no way you… Oh no, that’s not a joke.’”

“You were dead serious,” Carl continued. “And I’m like, ‘Wait, you actually were almost?’ And you’re like, ‘Yes!’”

While the relationship ultimately didn’t work out, the connection clearly left a lasting impression on Abdul.

The ‘Summer House’ OGs Continue Moving Forward

The podcast appearance was notable for another reason as well.

The conversation marked another step forward in Lindsay and Carl’s relationship following their highly publicized split in 2023.

The former couple called off their engagement in September 2023, with the fallout playing out during season 9 of “Summer House.”

At the beginning of the podcast episode, Carl admitted he was a little nervous about sitting down with his ex.

“[They were] good nerves,” he said. “I was excited that you wanted to come in.”

By the end of the conversation, the pair appeared to have reached a new level of comfort with one another.

In a symbolic moment, they followed each other on Instagram again during the episode.

“We’re back baby!” Carl declared.

Lindsay also revealed that she hopes Carl joins the cast of the “Summer House” spinoff “In the City” for season 2.
