Alicia Carmody is getting candid about her long engagement to fiancé Bill “Billy” Kitsilis on “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island,” revealing why the couple has yet to walk down the aisle after nearly a decade together.
During recent episodes and the “After Show,” Alicia shared that while she’s deeply in love, unresolved issues—especially around finances and trust—have slowed things down.
Alicia Carmody Opens Up About Prenup and Trust Issues
Alicia made it clear that her hesitation isn’t about a lack of love. In fact, she said she’s “obsessed” with Billy and respects everything he’s built.
“He came from nothing,” Alicia explained. “His family was immigrants from Greece. He went to college and did it all himself. He’s worked so hard. He owns a lot of businesses, more than 10; he started with his family. And some stuff I don’t even know, you know? But he’s quiet, and I love that about him. He’s not flashy. So, I think that, like, he is so protective, and I respect that.”
Still, the prenup became a major sticking point.
“So I was like, I will sign a prenup. I don’t want to take away from what you did in the past. I don’t want your businesses with your family and your friends and everything, but, like, I just want something,” Alicia said.
She revealed that her attorneys raised concerns about the original agreement, claiming Billy was “not even leaving [her] with a penny, nothing.” He also reportedly refused to put her name on their shared home.
“So, I feel like I live rent-free,” she added. “This is my problem. I don’t really pay for anything. I pay for my nails. … Deep down inside, I’m like, OK, like, you’re not working. But he didn’t really want you to work, Alicia.”
Alicia admitted the situation made her question his trust in her.
“So, it wasn’t, like, an easy situation for me. It kind of made me feel like, you don’t trust me.”
The RHORI Newcomer Reflects on Commitment and Past Fears
Beyond finances, Alicia acknowledged that her own history with commitment may also be playing a role.
“I feel like people that know me and love me know that the reason why they love me the most is because they trust me,” she said. “And the person that, like, I shared a daughter with didn’t trust me. So, I felt slighted by that. And that, like, caused a setback in our marriage. It’s made me feel like I’m not worthy enough.”
She also admitted she’s had a pattern of backing out of relationships before fully committing.
“I’ve always been a runaway bride. I was always in long-term relationships, just about to get engaged. … And then right before, I’d be like, you know what? I don’t think this is my forever. And I would break up with them.”
Now, even with a ring, Alicia said she still needs more reassurance.
“So, with Billy, like, I got the ring, I’m finally engaged, and now I still am hesitant on getting married because it’s like I think I need more from him. I need to feel more of a commitment before I make my commitment.”
She also shared frustrations about their financial dynamic.
“Billy is very much in control of my finances right now, and I hate having to ask him, now that I’m not working, for money,” Alicia said.
“I hate asking Billy for money. I feel almost embarrassed, intimidated with the whole financial thing.”
Despite the challenges, Alicia emphasized their bond remains strong.
“He’s the best guy,” she said. “He would die without me, and I would die without him.”
