Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen are headed back to court following a new alleged domestic dispute that has escalated their already complicated relationship. The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” stars are now facing legal proceedings that could impact custody of their son and the future of their ongoing conflict.
According to TMZ, Dakota filed for a restraining order against Taylor after what was described as a “chaotic” and “frightening” altercation. A judge has ordered both Taylor and Dakota to appear in court on April 7, where they are expected to address custody and “parent time provisions” for their son, Ever.
Custody Battle Heats Up Ahead of Court Date
The latest legal update comes with significant implications for the couple’s family dynamic. Due to a temporary protective order granted to Dakota, Taylor has lost temporary custody of Ever.
Court documents also reveal that the two will appear again for a remote hearing on April 30 to review the “merits and entry” of Dakota’s protective order.
The ongoing situation marks another chapter in their on-again, off-again relationship, which has frequently made headlines.
Taylor Frankie Paul & Dakota Mortenseon’s Conflicting Accounts Emerge From Alleged Incident
Details surrounding the alleged incident differ depending on who is telling the story. Dakota claimed Taylor choked him, scratched him, and ripped a necklace from his neck during the altercation.
Taylor’s camp, however, has pushed back on that version of events, offering a different narrative about what took place.
The dispute follows a history of public incidents between the two, including a widely circulated 2023 video that showed Taylor throwing barstools during an argument. That moment led to major professional consequences.
Reality TV Fallout Continues for Both Stars
The fallout from their relationship has extended beyond their personal lives and into their television careers.
Following the 2023 incident, Taylor’s season of “The Bachelorette” was canceled. More recently, the latest alleged altercation has reportedly put “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” on pause, with no confirmation on whether production will resume.
At the same time, Dakota has drawn attention for appearing on Alex Cooper’s YouTube reality series “Unwell Winter Games” even though Hulu announced he would be edited out of the next season of “Vanderpump Villa.”
His casting sparked criticism from Ben Higgins, who spoke about the situation on the “Almost Famous” podcast.
“It feels weird to me to know that you’ve been in the headlines because your ex and also the woman [who] birthed your child’s season of The Bachelorette was canceled due to a situation that you’re involved in,” Ben said. “You’re still involved in [the situation and] you hold full custody of the child right now because of this situation that just happened. … That feels messy [to me].”
Ben continued, “Dakota is out here two weeks later on a new show that is not getting the same type of recourse or questions.”
He added, “While that video was really bad for Taylor, Dakota is not clean in all of this either.”
