Rachel Zoe is officially embracing her single era — and she’s not easing into it quietly. The celebrity stylist and fashion entrepreneur is opening up about dating after her split from longtime husband Rodger Berman, and by the sound of it, she’s having a great time.
Rachel Zoe Opens Up About Dating After Divorce
After separating from Rodger in September 2024 following 26 years of marriage, Rachel says reentering the dating world felt surprisingly natural. “It’s incredibly fun,” she shared in a recent interview with People. “To be honest, that wasn’t hard for me to get into. It really wasn’t.”
Rachel describes this stage of life as an era of freedom, explaining that anyone new in her life needs to add something meaningful. “Anyone who comes into my life or our lives is only going to be someone that adds value in terms of making me laugh, making me smile and really just making sense,” she said. “It’ll have to feel organic and natural to who I am now.”
Looking back, Rachel says the relationship shifted long before the separation became official. “I was done. I was really done,” she said, adding that she doesn’t view the marriage as a failure. “Having been married for 26 years, I would say that three-quarters of that was amazing.”
Rachel and Rodger, who met in 1991 while attending George Washington University, married in 1998 and share two sons, Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 12. She says her children were the driving force behind her decision to leave.
“I started to feel like this may not be the most advantageous situation for our children,” she explained. “Every decision I make is through a lens of my kids… I have never felt that people should live together and stay together unhappy.”
In hindsight, Rachel admits she probably should have ended the marriage sooner. “If you ask any woman who has left a situation, they would probably say that,” she said. “But I ultimately did what’s best for the kids.”
The Former Celebrity Stylist Is Keeping It Real on Her Freshman Season of RHOBH
Rachel is opening up even more about the divorce on season 15 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” saying she hopes her experience helps other women. “At least 30% of the women in my life are going through a separation or a divorce,” she said.
She credits her independence for feeling grounded after such a major life change. “I’m independent — financially, professionally and socially,” Rachel explained. “You have to have your own things to wake up for every day… No matter what life throws at you, you have to be able to stand up on your own.”
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
