Just days after Diane Keaton’s passing, new details about her will are surfacing — and they reveal a move that’s as eccentric and heartwarming as she was. The “Annie Hall” legend reportedly left $5 million of her estimated $100 million fortune to her golden retriever, Reggie.
Diane Keaton’s Final Act of Love for Her Best Friend
Sources close to the late actress say Keaton wanted to ensure her beloved companion lived comfortably after her passing. “Reggie was her world,” one insider told Rob Shuter’s Substack. “Diane used to joke that her great loves were her children, Al Pacino, architecture — and that dog.”
The funds will reportedly go toward a private home, full-time caretakers, and donations to animal charities that Keaton supported throughout her life. “She wanted Reggie to live with the same dignity and humor she did,” another source shared. “It’s the most Diane thing ever — eccentric, kind, and deeply loving.”
The rest of Keaton’s fortune is expected to go to her children, Dexter and Duke.
A lifelong animal advocate, Keaton worked with the Helen Woodward Animal Center in California and frequently championed rescue efforts. Its CEO, Mike Arms, remembered her fondly: “We lost a true animal lover — not someone who just talked about animals, but someone who really cared.”
Keaton passed away from pneumonia on October 11 at age 79.
