Imrul Hassan is shedding new light on what really happened behind the scenes on Summer House. While his time on the show sparked mixed reactions, the season 9 cast member says viewers were never given the full picture—especially when it came to the story that mattered most to him: his nonprofit work in Bangladesh.
Speaking on the “Bravo! We’re Black” podcast, Hassan claimed Bravo cut out a key dinner scene in which he opened up about his mission to build an English school for underserved children. “What I didn’t realize is they were going to cut out … where I talk about my English school,” Hassan said on the podcast “It wasn’t like [I was on the show] to propel my career into this. If it did, fantastic. If it didn’t, all good. But I knew I was going to have a little platform to talk about what I really think is my life’s mission—and they cut that out, and that was just so hurtful.”
Imrul Hassan Reveals Another Time He Didn’t Make the Cut on Summer House
Hassan says his philanthropic work was a core reason he agreed to join the show in the first place. Viewers, however, never saw that side of him—something he found deeply frustrating.
“I’m not sure how much I can talk about this—I’m going to talk about it anyway … I don’t give a s**t at this point because it was f**ked up,” he said, expressing disappointment that Bravo not only excluded his nonprofit moment, but also edited him out of an entire weekend.
That wasn’t the only scene that didn’t make it to air. According to Hassan, producers also cut a moment of accountability that he felt was important. During the weekend in question, Hassan says he apologized to the group for frequently bringing guests back to the house without warning.
“I realized I wasn’t being as thoughtful or keeping their feelings in mind,” he explained. “I even made a little joke with Carl [Radke], like, ‘I’m going to try to learn from Carl and not go out and not bring people back.’ They kind of laughed, but they cut that whole thing out.”
Instead, the final edit focused on other cast dynamics. “They focused on West [Wilson] and Ciara [Miller] sitting next to each other, or whatever it was,” he said.
Hassan has since confirmed he won’t return for another season, but says he remains focused on his nonprofit. “That’s what really matters to me,” he told listeners.
