I stand corrected. She is getting married in Mexico. And I looked up the registers information and she was legally married yesterday by ——— who did an online course (10 min) to marry them before going to the actual wedding ceremony in Mexico. Getting married there because that was their first trip together as a couple. So many people in this town were saying this and that yesterday. And a lot of people were confused as hell. Even Venita was confused.

It makes sense to get legally married in the states before, then do a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. To get married in Mexico, they require a blood test of bride and groom, which many don’t want to do (understandably). So they opt to legalize it in US, then just do symbolic ceremony and celebration over there.

You have to legally get married in the states. I had a friend get married in Mexico and they didn’t realize the states didn’t recognize until they got their taxes done.
You can’t legally get married in Mexico. You have to get married in the US prior or after etc.

You can absolutely get married outside the US and have it recognized. You merely have to follow the country’s requirements.

Got married in Mexico and you can do it but it does take a blood test, a lot of paperwork for us to be legal and also the ceremony would have had to be in Spanish so our vow etc we’re not in English. We opted to get married before hand the same exact way. Brother in law married us in a park with our parents and siblings present. Got married two weeks later in Mexico… that’s the date we use though
You can absolutely get legally married outside the states BUT the requirements in other countries could make it extremely complicated and not worth it considering how easy it is to get married in the US. In Italy it’s a 4 day process to get legally married as a foreigner and thousands of dollars in fees. Plus a lot can go wrong and they can make you do the process over. The logistics of getting married in a foreign country are complicated enough as it is. Some places require you to stay in their country for an extended period of time. Some require a blood test from a doctor in their country. This is the smart thing to do.
