Lindsay Hubbard is opening up about what it was really like stepping into “In The City” after a decade on “Summer House”—and it wasn’t exactly an easy transition.
After appearing on all 10 seasons of “Summer House,” Lindsay admitted that filming the new Bravo series felt completely different from what she was used to.
“It was a big shock to the system,” Lindsay said in an interview with Vulture.
Lindsay Hubbard Says ‘In The City’ Filming Was a ‘Shock’
Lindsay explained that the biggest adjustment came from how differently the two shows are filmed.
“For ‘Summer House,’ we film on the weekends, we’re in the Hamptons, there’s surveillance cameras everywhere, we’re throwing parties, we’re drinking rosé, and it’s more chill,” she said.
But “In The City” follows a much different format.
“Whereas ‘In The City’ is filmed more in line with most other Bravo shows,” Lindsay continued. “For the first month of filming, I had to rewire my entire brain of 10 years of filming ‘Summer House’ to a different format.”
She added that the new show focuses more on real-life responsibilities and everyday moments.
“It’s really about our day-to-day lives and what we experience as these adults trying to make big life decisions,” she explained.
The Reality TV Vet Teases Amanda Batula Friendship on ‘In The City’
While the format may be different, Lindsay said one unexpected highlight of filming “In The City” was her friendship with Amanda Batula.
During an April 28 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Lindsay revealed just how close the two became while filming.
“We did a lot of filming for ‘In The City’ right after ‘Summer House,’ and I had Amanda’s back,” Lindsay said. “We were basically best friends while filming.”
“I got very, very, very, very close to Amanda while filming ‘In The City,’” she added.
Lindsay also reflected on how far “Summer House” has come since its early days, calling it “the little show that could.”
“When we started, we didn’t know what this would bring,” she said during the “Watch What Happens Live” After Show. “We thought we were going to get one season.”
She added that support from Bravo executives helped the show grow into what it is today.
“They were like, ‘No, the fans will catch on,’” Lindsay said. “And once the fans caught on, there we go.”
“In The City” premieres Tuesday, May 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo as part of a two-hour crossover event following the “Summer House” season 10 finale. Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
