Lala Kent is opening up about her friendship breakup with Katie Maloney—and it sounds like the fallout still weighs heavily on her.

During a May 1 episode of her podcast “An Unlikely Affair,” the “The Valley” star shared new insight into what led to the end of her once-close relationship with the “Vanderpump Rules” alum.

Lala explained that the split was the most difficult one she has experienced, both emotionally and personally.

Lala Kent Says Katie Maloney Breakup Was Her ‘Hardest’

Lala didn’t hold back when describing how deeply the situation affected her.

“I went through a lot of anger, a lot of resentment, a lot of sadness,” she said on the podcast, adding that she worked with her sponsor to process everything.

She also acknowledged her role in the fallout, pointing to the “Vanderpump Rules” season 11 reunion as a turning point. According to Lala, she shared something on camera that Katie believed had been private.

“Katie was my best friend,” Lala said. “So we were just doing what we’ve always done, but now on camera. And that friendship revived me. I felt safe. I felt seen. And it breaks my heart to know that in a matter of moments, I didn’t make her feel the same.”

After the reunion, Lala said she reached out with an apology, but never heard back.

“I am totally content with that,” she said, before admitting she believes the friendship is likely over for good.

“I don’t think it’s ever gonna come back, and that’s fine. I’m content with that,” she continued. “Although I miss that friendship deeply, and I know there’s no repairing it, we’ve both moved on.”

Katie Maloney Previously Addressed Trust Issues With Her Former VPR Co-Star

Katie has also spoken about the breakup, offering her own perspective during a July 2024 appearance on the podcast “Not Skinny but Not Fat.”

She said the issues between them began during the “Vanderpump Rules” season 11 cast trip to San Francisco and escalated at the reunion.

“I think her and I, our lives are in slightly different places, and sometimes it just means you’re not meeting on the same page,” Katie explained.

She also suggested that Lala had been holding onto feelings that were only revealed on camera.

“Obviously, she had been harboring certain feelings… and so she was saving them for the reunion, which I didn’t feel was super authentic,” she said.

For Katie, trust played a major role in the breakdown.

“Once you violate my trust like that, it’s very hard to come back from [it]. Trust is the most important thing to me,” she added.

Lala has joined “The Valley” for season 3, while Katie is reuniting with Stassi Schroeder for Hulu’s “House of Stassi.”
