Amanda Batula is setting the record straight about Kyle Cooke’s headline-making $4 million debt — and she wants fans to know it has nothing to do with her.
In a March 3 interview with Marie Claire, the “Summer House” star addressed concerns about Cooke’s business finances following their January split. Amanda, 34, explained that the debt stems from a business loan Kyle took out before they tied the knot.
Amanda Batula Says Kyle Cooke’s Debt Is Solely His Responsibility
Amanda made it clear that Kyle’s Loverboy debt does not legally fall on her shoulders.
“If the business can’t pay it back, then Kyle’s responsible,” she said. “To my knowledge and his understanding, [the debt] doesn’t involve me in any way, but a prenup would have protected me 100 percent from it.”
Kyle previously revealed in 2022 that he was $4 million in debt due to a loan tied to Loverboy, the alcoholic beverage company he founded in 2018. After news of their breakup broke, fans speculated whether
Amanda could be on the hook financially. She admitted she wanted to speak out because “everyone’s freaking out about it.”
Amanda and Kyle, 43, announced their separation in January after four years of marriage. In a joint statement, they shared, “After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple.” They added that they were focusing on “personal growth and healing” and asked for privacy during the transition.
The ‘Summer House’ Star Admits She Regrets Not Signing a Prenup
While Amanda confirmed there was no prenup in their marriage, she now says that’s not a mistake she would make again.
“Everyone needs a prenup. It doesn’t matter if you make millions of dollars or how in love you are,” she said. “It’s like health insurance; you get it to protect yourself if something happens.”
She added, “Prenups are also to avoid being responsible for someone else’s debt.”
Kyle previously told fans in January that they “don’t really plan” on having a messy divorce, but Amanda’s comments suggest she’s learned some hard lessons.
Amanda Batula Slams Kyle Cooke For Trying to ‘Shame’ Her
Amanda also addressed the backlash Kyle has faced from “Summer House” viewers during season 10, which is currently airing. On the show, Kyle criticized Amanda’s marijuana use — something she says has never been a secret.
“I’ve always been very open about smoking weed,” Amanda said. “I smoke weed every night at the house on camera. We have a little balcony outside the primary bedroom, where I go out to smoke my little joint — Bravo just doesn’t air those scenes.”
She even noted that there are clips showing her “little weed pen” on her nightstand.
“Also we have a THC drink called Flowerboy, which Kyle consumes himself. So what the hell is the problem?” she added. “He just doesn’t like that I smoke it. But let me do what I want to my body. You’re destroying your liver; I’m destroying my lungs. We’ll both die happy.”
Amanda confirmed that Kyle was “absolutely” trying to weaponize her weed usage.
“He was trying to shame me, make me seem like a bad person,” she said.
“I’m not a social high; I need to be on the couch, in my own space, before bed. It doesn’t affect my lifestyle in any way. That’s why it was so crazy for him to say that. He really thought he had something on me there.”
