Things are getting messy on “Southern Charm” — and this time, the drama isn’t staying neatly contained in the episode.
Molly O’Connell recently looked back on the moment Craig Conover appeared to “yell” at Venita Aspen during a tense scene on the Bravo series, and she’s also clearing the air on where she and Venita stand after their own onscreen tension. And yes, there’s also a boyfriend update — because Charleston gossip never sleeps.
Molly O’Connell Says Craig Conover Was “Triggered” During Venita Aspen Moment
On Page Six Radio, Molly addressed the heated moment fans have been talking about, saying viewers will see Craig snap at Venita.
“I love Venita. She’s great. We are friends,” Molly said, before acknowledging what unfolded between Craig and Venita. “There’s definitely — you see that Craig kind of yells at her at a certain point.”
Molly didn’t excuse it, but she did suggest Craig’s reaction came from being emotionally activated.
“I understand that Craig gets triggered and he blows up, and that’s — you know, that’s not great,” she continued. “And I know that that really hurt Venita’s feelings.”
And while Molly hinted that not everyone stepped in during the moment, she made it clear she’s in Venita’s corner.
“I’m there for her. I understand her side of everything,” she said, adding the blow-up may have gone too far. “I think that was a really big blow-up that maybe wasn’t warranted at that level.”
Why Craig Conover Was Hurt: Paige DeSorbo, Venita Aspen, and the Fallout
The tension appears tied to Craig’s breakup with Paige DeSorbo in late 2024. After the split, Venita publicly commented that she was Team Paige — and Craig later said he didn’t want to be associated with Venita anymore. More recently, Venita claimed Craig was trying to ice her out of the group.
Molly admitted she can see why Craig might’ve been hurt, but she also pointed out one key detail: Venita and Paige weren’t casual acquaintances.
“Venita and Paige are actually really close friends,” Molly said, noting Venita is also close with Paige’s co-star Ciara Miller. She added that Venita didn’t randomly jump in with an opinion — she was asked questions about the breakup.
Still, Molly suggested both sides could’ve handled things more carefully, describing Craig as more sensitive than many viewers might assume.
Molly O’Connell Teases New Boyfriend — and Shep Rose Approves
While the cast drama continues, Molly’s personal life is giving something a little sweeter.
Last month, she revealed to Bravo’s “The Daily Dish” that she’s been dating someone for the past few months — and yes, it’s official.
“He’s my boyfriend,” Molly shared, adding that he’s from the South and has lived in Charleston “for a long time.” Oh — and he plays guitar.
Even Shep Rose, Molly’s former fling, had surprisingly warm things to say about the mystery guy.
“He’s a talented guy,” Shep said. “[He’s a] super, super good guy.”
Shep later added on “Watch What Happens Live” that Molly and her boyfriend are even in a band together — because of course they are. This is “Southern Charm,” not a corporate retreat.
New episodes of “Southern Charm” air Wednesdays on Bravo.
