Denise Richards’ legal battle with estranged husband Aaron Phypers has taken a harrowing turn. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, 54, has been granted a permanent restraining order against Phypers, 53, following a disturbing trial that revealed shocking allegations of abuse.
According to Us Weekly, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge made the ruling on November 7, ordering Phypers to remain at least 100 yards away from Richards and her workplace until November 7, 2030. The order also bans him from contacting her in any way and from possessing firearms.
The decision follows a temporary restraining order Richards first obtained in July, shortly after Phypers filed for divorce. In her petition, she accused him of years of violent behavior, alleging he would “violently choke” her, “slam” her head into fixtures, and even threaten to kill her. Richards also claimed Phypers hacked into her devices to access private messages.
During the trial, which began on October 6, Richards testified about a particularly alarming incident in May, when she said Phypers hit her after she underwent surgery. “[Aaron] smashed me on the top of my head with the palm of his hand while screaming at me repeatedly, ‘Give me your f*cking phone,’” she said. “I was disoriented from the surgery and was fearful he may seriously injure me.”
Phypers’ cousin, Kathleen McAllister, who previously worked for him, also testified against him. “I saw Aaron hit Denise and immediately she had a really bad black eye,” she told the court. “I’m literally in shock now to this day about it.”
Phypers, however, has denied the allegations, telling the outlet, “These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue.”
The judge ultimately sided with Richards, granting her the permanent protection order after finding sufficient evidence to support her claims.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for season 15 when it premieres on Thursday, December 4, at 8/7c on Bravo.
