Subject: Nurse Anesthetist
Spill It to BravoandCocktails.com:
Hi y’all! I’m a huge fan, and a cocktailer! I am also a nurse anesthetist. While I will be the first to admit that AnnaMarie did our profession a disservice in the way she spoke and interacted on RHOB, the infographic released by the ASA is not only factually inaccurate, it is intentionally downplaying the critical role CRNAs play in our nations healthcare. Here’s just a few things y’all may not know about CRNAS. I love y’all and keep up all the good work!
CRNAs safely administer more than 50 million anesthetics to patients each year in the United States.
CRNAs practice in every setting anesthesia is delivered, including operating rooms and obstetrical delivery rooms; the offices of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons; and pain management specialists; and in the U.S. military
CRNAs are the only anesthesia professionals with critical care experience before beginning formal anesthesia education
CRNAs represent more than 80% of the anesthesia providers in rural U.S. counties.
Today, CRNAs have full practice authority in every branch of the military and are the primary providers of anesthesia care to U.S. military personnel on the front lines, navy ships, and aircraft evacuation teams around the globe
Currently, CRNAs may practice in 22 U.S. states and Guam without physician supervision
CRNA preparation requires 7–8.5 years of education and experience
All residents entering an accredited CRNA program must be enrolled in a doctoral program
Graduates of nurse anesthesia programs have an average of 9,369 hours of clinical experience, including 733 hours during their baccalaureate nursing program, 6,032 hours as a critical care registered nurse, and 2,604 hours during their nurse anesthesia program

I don’t understand, if anything this email confirms what the ASA posted? They never said one was more important than the other, just the requirements in education for both? Or am I reading this wrong?
Thanks Annamarie!
I have many friends that are CRNAs and don’t have their doctorate and are not enrolled in a doctorate program.
as an RN CRNAs job are extremely important and not easy to obtain, however, they are NOT doctors and do not do the same schooling.
Doesn’t matter what the exact requirements are or are not. Fact is AnnaMarie is unlikeable and kept at it to make herself seem more important than the others. Girl, stop reaching bc your 8.5 is now downgraded. Goodbye!
Right, lol! Annemarie is that you, boo? The post from ASA did the right thing in clarifying the difference. They did not say anything negative. When you have loud fools like Annemarie boasting to over 1 million live viewers incorrect info, that’s where the confusion comes in. Nurses are not docs, but both professions are important, yet are not the same. The issue was Annemarie cosplaying as a doc then denying it.
This post just confirms that the ASA post was accurate in pointing out the differences. Despite what a CRNA can do, they are still not anesthesiologists. That doesn’t discredit the amazing work they do, but she can’t make it seem like both positions are equal when they are not.
Alright, it’s not a pissing contest 🙄 The point is Annemarie misrepresented her profession to attack Sutton and was extremely wrong in everything she said. Like a Crystalnsaid a simple google search even prooves her wrong 👎. No one said CRNAs are useless, it’s just your not doctors and the edu is different. Still didn’t go to medical school.
This copy/paste did a disservice to my eyes. Get rid of her!!
I interpreted the post as Annemarie claiming she was a doctor to Crystal (allegedly) but she was a nurse. Not that one is better than another but that there’s substantive differences. People get weird about professional titles
Yes the education requirements for both are different but in an OR setting, they are doing the exact same thing. The big difference is one is paid more than the other. Nurse Practitioners are bridging the gap in healthcare especially in primary care and in small towns. Many medical doctors going into specialities because they make more money there. Many hospitals and medical facilities hire NPs to fill gaps because why not hire a NP to do the same thing but they don’t cost as much as a MD. It’s might seems complicated with you aren’t familiar with it but all are every important to the healthcare system
I’m in the medical field and this is accurate. Imo they are better than medical anesthesiologists. These guys just care about money, not about the patients. These nurses have better skilled clinical experience. They are highly skilled. Let’s be real Anne-Marie did this for drama on the show and to support Kyle against Sutton.
👍🏼
I think everyone agrees that nurse anesthetists play very important roles throughout the medical community. I had surgery on 1/5, and I absolutely acknowledge that my NA was a rockstar.
Annemarie created an issue by 1) discussing a stranger’s medical diagnosis with others and harassing her about it; and 2) allegedly telling someone that she was a doctor.
It’s okay to clarify the difference between the two, and doing so does not diminish the value of either. Just as lawyers would be lost without paralegals, the same can be said for doctors and NA.
Nonetheless, they are distinct and separate professions, equally worthy of respect. No one is coming for NA, the ire is specifically aimed at AM and her flippant conduct.
Annamarie is not a doctor and she made the exact mistake you’re expecting from someone who is not a doctor: she spread misinformation about Sutton’s condition “not making sense from a medical point of view”. That was simply not true and Annamarie had no authority to declare such a thing.
I’ll take a Dr over a CRNA any day. That’s all.
Omg 🤦♀️ of course CRNAs are trained professionals who do important work, no one is disputing that. The only point they were making is that there are indeed differences between anesthesiologists, who are doctors, and nurse anesthetists.
Go RNs! (Of all types and skill levels – varies widely!!!).
RNs in hospital setting do the majority of patient care work …. They are rock stars!
Happy CRNA week!
Why do nurses have to defend SO HARD haha. All of the above is true. Also, everything the anesthesiologist post said was TRUE. It was not inaccurate.
Most people’s problem with Annemarie was not her professional title, it’s that she is not qualified to speak to Sutton’s esophageal issues and her behavior was inappropriate.
